Sustainable Development (S.A.Roosa):  The ability of physical development and urban environmental impacts to sustain long term inhabitation by human and other indigenous species while providing: 1)an opportunity for environmentally safe, ecologically appropriate physical development; 2)efficient use of natural resources; 3)a framework which allows improvement of the human condition and equal opportunity for current and future generations; and 4)manageable urban growth.

Four Principles of Urban Sustainability:  Urban Management, Policy Integration, Ecosystems Thinking, Cooperation & Partnership

Components of Sustainability:  Physical Development, Natural Resources, Structural Policy Framework, Urban Growth

Wikipedia definition:  characteristic of a process or state that can be maintained at a certain level indefinitely.
